Unique and memorable B&B

This B&B is a 1694 building that has been carefully converted and decorated to maintain the historic charm and character while satisfying modern notions of comfort. I stayed in the Zzz room, which has a very comfortable double bed, all the room I needed, and a newly renovated bathroom with a great shower and thick fluffy towels. Our hosts, Bette and Paul, were warm and pleasant and served us different delicious breakfasts each day. It was hard to leave room for Paul's signature scones, but we managed somehow. The building is well back from the road so the setting is serene despite being close to Storrs Road. Visited Aug. 16-19, 2018. Review from Trip Advisor.

I booked all three rooms at Stone Arches for my family and friends for a weekend in Aug, 2018. Everyone thought it was an exceptional place to stay. The breakfasts were absolutely fabulous. Family visited June 16-19, 2018 Review from Google.

Marilyn says her cousin was happy,

You'll want to move in.

We arranged for my cousin and her husband to stay here tor two nights. They were extremely pleased with this very, very charming bed and breakfast and with the total comfort of their bed. Each room here is different and appealing as are the common rooms. I was fortunate enough to join them for two delicious breakfasts, which were excellent and elegant, prepared by Paul, a gourmet chef. The table settings are totally changed each day by Bette, and are all very attractive and inviting. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and the enthusiasm for their establishment is contagious. This is a unique experience. We'd all love to go back soon! Visited June 20-22, 2018. Wow! What a great experience. My wife, daughter and I recently stayed at Stone ARches while we visited our 2 students at UConn. Bette and Paul are gracious hosts who made us feel welcome immediately. Their house is a true gem with tons of classic New England charm and character. The rooms, while maintaining that classic feel, are all modern and newly renovated with all the amenities. Paul is a master in the kitchen and prepared a fabulous breakfast for us that included homemade blueberry scones and farm fresh eggs. Enjoyed our stay so much that we have already made follow-up reservations for graduation. Highly recommend. Visited May 6-7, 2018 and Aug. 26-27, 2017. Review from Google.

Midge and Jim from Tennessee:

Outstanding experience! Our room, the Periwinkle and it's attached bathroom, were comfy, charming, and functional. The balcony off the Periwinkle and its view were a bonus. We had the option of logging into our personal HULU or Amazon account if we chose to watch TV. We spend two nights and the B & B and although al the rooms were full the 2nd night (Uconn Graduation), we did not hear a peep from any of our neighbors. Breakfast was an incredible treat and began with artfully arranged fresh fruit, fresh scones (homemade) and a tasty cup of coffee. Breakfast continued with a more traditional fare of fresh and locally sourced eggs, sausage and more. Bette and Paul are lovely hosts and we can't wait for our next visit. Hope to Return!

I loved my stay at this charming B & B. I was fortunate to stay here during a snow storm and views of the surrounding landscape were gorgeous. Bette and Paul were so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a few meals with them. The scones are no joke--seriously the best scones I've ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of scones. The room was a perfect blend of charm and functionality. The brand new bathrooms were especially great. Visited March 19-22, 2018. Review from Trip Advisor.

This was our first time in a Bed & Breakfast, and it was wonderful! Paul and Bette made us feel at home and surprised us with champagne for our anniversary. Joe was excited!

I've never been so impressed with a bed and breakfast. Never. It almost goes without saying that the hosts were wonderful. That's the easy part. The breakfasts that we had were straight out of a 5-star restaurant. Delicious and prepared by a proprietor with schef school training. Absolutely delicious, super well presented, bht best scones we've ever had, and served in a wonderful, friendly homey, yet-high end restaurant like manner. Wonderful food. The accommodations were also amazong. Clean, comfortable and in unbelievable condition for a room bamed 1694, the year it was created. Aside from this terrific base of a B&B, I was absolutely mesmerized by the stone work. I could not comprehnd hos a 4;10: woman could single handedly complete this amazing work. We truly viewed the home as an incredible, long0standing work of art. I took no less than 50 pictures of the stone work alone. STAY at this place!!! You will be more than happy ou did. I guarantee it. Visited March 9-11, 2018 Review from Google.

"Stone Arches and its proprietors=wonderful combination"
Great addition to the all too few accommodations in the Storrs/UConn area! Loved the 1694 room, fantastic breakfasts (thank you happy hens and Chef Paul) and conversations with Bette and Paul. Highly recommend the nicely appointed Stone Arches. Will definitely stay here again.

From Mary Beth:

Our stay was fantastic! The warm and friendly atmosphere made our trip. The prepared a five start breakfast. I am gluten free and always worry about traveling but Bette & Paul asked if we had allergies and had GF bread and homemade muffins! So thoughtful. The rooms are newly renovated and they all of "little" things to make you feel at home. (luxury towels & sheets, wine glasses and an opener, blowdryer etc) Can't wait to visit again. Loved staying at Bette and Paul’s place. Beautiful home with wonderful hospitality and delicious breakfast. I really can’t say enough good things. The TV in the room has Roku so you can hook up to your own subscriptions with no trouble. WiFi is fast. Bathrooms are modern and super clean. Temperature inside home was just perfect. Really close to UCONN. If you know this area you know that good accommodations are few and far between. This was just an amazing surprise. I highly recommend it. Visited Nov. 5-6, 2017. Just spent the weekend at the Stone Arches. Paul & Bette turned a 300 year old mansion into a fabulous Bed & Breakfast. It was awesome to relive the history of this amazing house. Their food is unbelievably delicious. Without doubt they are the most gracious hosts we have ever met. You have to experience and stay at the Stone Arches.
