Jeremy enjoyed his stay

Stone Arches Bed and Breakfast was my first experience staying at a BnB and I couldn't be happier with my experience. Built in 1694, you get the feeling of stepping back in time, immersed in Connecticut’s rich history. Betty and Paul are warm and welcoming. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a private bathroom. And, Paul's breakfast with his culinary expertise is something to behold.

Beatriz came all the way from Spain.

If you value uniqueness and hospitality, Stone Arches is definitely the place for you. I stayed in the Periwinkle room for a couple of days during a conference, and I couldn't have been made to feel more welcome.
I loved everything about my stay there. The old, quirky house. The creaky floors, quilts on the beds and rocking chairs. The hand-made decorations, the antiques, and paintings on every wall. The conversations we struck up at breakfast. The pancakes, fresh eggs in the mornings, and the tastiest maple syrup I've ever had (to be honest, I'm still daydreaming about that)... But above all else, the thing I valued the most was Bette and Paul's kindness and hospitality. I think there is nothing more important than having good, kind people as hosts, and these two were just a pleasure to be around.
If you have the chance, seriously, book this place. You won't regret it! :-)

We stayed only one night, but would have been happy to have stayed a week! Wonderful hosts, beautiful home, great conversations with Paul, Bette and the other guests, and a really top-notch breakfast. Highly recommended!

Laura and her friends had a good time.

I stayed here with a group of women and had a wonderful stay. Bette and Paul are very dedicated and knowledgeable about the history of the house and the area. The rooms are beautiful with all the amenities you could want, including thoughtful touches like motion lights so you won't trip on the way to the bathroom, full length mirrors and charging blocks with USB ports on the bedside tables. The quilts on the beds are handmade by Bette and the breakfast is phenomenal - fresh fruit, scones, eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes. There are a couple friendly cats downstairs who enjoy pets.

We've just returned from a wonderful 6-night stay at Stone Arches. Room was great, very clean, and the bed was superb. Paul's multi-course breakfasts each morning were incredible, from his hand-made scones and breads, to the locally sourced sausage, bacon, fruit, and eggs. We will definitely stay here again.

Callum had fun

Bette and Paul have a wonderful home - full of warmth and charm. They are excellent hosts, easy to communicate with, responsive and welcoming. Their home has a lot of character, a true reflection of its owners, and has a lot of the little touches that help you realize how much they enjoy having guests. Breakfast (all homemade) is fabulous.

Lovely home that has been extensively restored and updated by the friendly, hospitable innkeepers, with whom we enjoyed engaging conversations. Our small, pretty room had a comfortable queen bed with pretty linens and a beautiful handmade quilt by innkeeper Bette. There's an ensuite bathroom, nicely done with tub and shower combo. We had morning coffee on a private deck off of our room, overlooking the woodland property with periwinkle and other spring flowers blooming below. Then we went down to the dining room where the table was set to welcome us with more coffee, juice and truly the most delicious scones we have ever had! Innkeeper Paul is the baker/chef who delighted us with what I'll call a "fruit tower" that was almost too pretty to eat...but we did... and enjoyed every bite! Then, fresh eggs were offered to be prepared any way that we wished, along with very good bacon, homefries and delicious homemade rye toast and Tuscan white toast. After breakfast we took a walk around the property and visited the chicken "compound" to see who produced those FRESH eggs,
Good to know; there are two gorgeous house cats that are allowed only in the common areas, not the bedrooms, so if you are allergic, be aware. Also, if mobility is an issue, be aware that all three bedrooms are on the second floor and floors are uneven in places.
All in all, a lovely stay, and an added surprise was the coffee mugs that Bette gifted us with as we said our goodbyes.

I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful and inviting B&B for a few days.
Upon arrival Bette and Paul were incredibly friendly and courteous.
( Not the familiar phony welcome, but a rather rare and genuine greeting)
I was given a full tour of the beautiful house and property. I love the fireplace and high beam, So much history!!
The grounds are so beautiful and peaceful, I enjoyed walking around enjoying the beautiful peacefulness.
Clearly although well traveled I'm a city man and appreciate history and beauty.
The Periwinkle room is wonderful with the balcony which I enjoyed early morning and late evening's sitting and star gazing.
Breakfast was absolutely amazing from delicious poached pear, scones ,breads and omelet. Both Paul and Bette are wonderfully engaging in conversation.
I look forward to revisiting Stone archers this year sometime. Perhaps, for a longer visit when I want a place to visit close enough to home yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet!
They even were kind enough to give me a to-go- bag because I had to leave early morning on my departure day to meet a deadline.
I'll be back and highly recommend!!

We booked this B&B for 3 nights in July 2021. At the end of our stay we regretted we could not stay longer. Everything was wonderful: the room, the grounds, the breakfasts and, most of all, the owners, Bette and Paul Stern: a very friendly couple willing to accommodate every request and doing so with a warm smile. We had very interesting conversations with the owners during our delicious breakfasts, including fresh-from-the-oven, homemade pastries and interesting egg creations. During the days, we toured the surrounding area and hiked peaceful trails winding through the woods by the rushing waters of the Fenton River. We will certainly come back to this wonderful B&B at the first opportunity. HIghly recommended!

My partner and I read reviews online to pick out our inn stays. I read the reviews for Stone Arches and told my spouse -“sounds too good to be true! What did they do- invite friends over for a sleepover and have them write reviews?!”
Factcheck: No, they didn’t have friends and family write fake reviews. But fair warning- after one day there, you’re sure to feel as though they ( Bette and Paul) are your long lost friends/ relatives!
This was our best inn experience to date, and that is saying something for people who inn hop on weekends. We stayed in April when the weather was perfect for the multiple hiking trails around the inn. Bette and Paul are the most gracious hosts you could ask for. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The multi course Breakfasts were the highlight of our stay- curated to our tastes and dietary restrictions, freshly made with the freshest of ingredients, locally sourced. The eggs are from their own backyard, and it tastes so much better in Paul’s omelettes! Paul was definitely gourmet in his cooking!
We also appreciated the patience of Paul and Bette when dealing with our 5yo. There were times when I would come downstairs in a panic to see him being indulged in deeply intellectual conversations by Paul and Bette. Or Paul and him immersed in Power rangers on TV.
We also got to share Bette and Paul’s interesting take on life. We got to hold the lovingly grown hens in the backyard. And got the best recommendations for places to explore and food to try( my dad raves about the coffee bean ice cream that is also Paul’s favorite!)
All in all, book it, you will not regret it!
Paul and Bette, if you are reading this, thank you so very much for those very relaxing 3 days. We are amazed at your hospitality and loved it there. We will be back for more!

Wow, wow, wow! What an amazing place! I literally dont know where to start! Gorgeous historic property with updated bathrooms/showers/etc to make it so comfy and perfect. Soft cushy towels, perfect beds, gorgeous homemade quilts! The hosts are so nice and so accommodating and were so sweet to our (teething AGH) one year old! Annndddd THE FOOODDD! The reviews did not lie! Home baked bread fresh baked on site, fresh eggs from the hens on site, fresh sausage from a farm down the road, amazing breakfasts and so wonderfully presented. You can taste the difference. It is literally a 5 star BnB without the snobbery or pretense. Lol Such a gem! We were there through the whole holiday weekend and this will be our new go to when we visit CT! Oh and it rained and the grounds smelled like pine and flowers!!😍😍 Perfect for weddings...encouraging my family to utilize this beautiful place! Thanks Bette and Paul for the wonderful, restful, peaceful time!! As my husband said "Hospitality personified!" 💕

Hope to Return!

I loved my stay at this charming B & B. I was fortunate to stay here during a snow storm and views of the surrounding landscape were gorgeous. Bette and Paul were so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed a few meals with them. The scones are no joke--seriously the best scones I've ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of scones. The room was a perfect blend of charm and functionality. Unique and memorable B&B

This B&B is a 1694 building that has been carefully converted and decorated to maintain the historic charm and character while satisfying modern notions of comfort. I stayed in the Zzz room, which has a very comfortable double bed, all the room I needed, and a newly renovated bathroom with a great shower and thick fluffy towels. Our hosts, Bette and Paul, were warm and pleasant and served us different delicious breakfasts each day. It was hard to leave room for Paul's signature scones, but we managed somehow. The building is well back from the road so the setting is serene despite being close to Storrs Road. Visited Aug. 16-19, 2018. Review from Trip Advisor.

You'll want to move in.

We arranged for my cousin and her husband to stay here tor two nights. They were extremely pleased with this very, very charming bed and breakfast and with the total comfort of their bed. Each room here is different and appealing as are the common rooms. I was fortunate enough to join them for two delicious breakfasts, which were excellent and elegant, prepared by Paul, a gourmet chef. The table settings are totally changed each day by Bette, and are all very attractive and inviting. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and the enthusiasm for their establishment is contagious. This is a unique experience. We'd all love to go back soon! Visited June 20-22, 2018. Joe was excited!

I've never been so impressed with a bed and breakfast. Never. It almost goes without saying that the hosts were wonderful. That's the easy part. The breakfasts that we had were straight out of a 5-star restaurant. Delicious and prepared by a proprietor with schef school training. Absolutely delicious, super well presented, bht best scones we've ever had, and served in a wonderful, friendly homey, yet-high end restaurant like manner. Wonderful food. The accommodations were also amazong. Clean, comfortable and in unbelievable condition for a room bamed 1694, the year it was created. Aside from this terrific base of a B&B, I was absolutely mesmerized by the stone work. I could not comprehnd hos a 4;10: woman could single handedly complete this amazing work. We truly viewed the home as an incredible, long0standing work of art. I took no less than 50 pictures of the stone work alone. STAY at this place!!! You will be more than happy ou did. I guarantee it. Visited March 9-11, 2018 Review from Google.

Wow! What a great experience. My wife, daughter and I recently stayed at Stone ARches while we visited our 2 students at UConn. Bette and Paul are gracious hosts who made us feel welcome immediately. Their house is a true gem with tons of classic New England charm and character. The rooms, while maintaining that classic feel, are all modern and newly renovated with all the amenities. Paul is a master in the kitchen and prepared a fabulous breakfast for us that included homemade blueberry scones and farm fresh eggs. Enjoyed our stay so much that we have already made follow-up reservations for graduation. Highly recommend. Visited May 6-7, 2018 and Aug. 26-27, 2017. Review from Google.

Outstanding experience! Our room, the Periwinkle and it's attached bathroom, were comfy, charming, and functional. The balcony off the Periwinkle and its view were a bonus. We had the option of logging into our personal HULU or Amazon account if we chose to watch TV. We spend two nights and the B & B and although al the rooms were full the 2nd night (Uconn Graduation), we did not hear a peep from any of our neighbors. Breakfast was an incredible treat and began with artfully arranged fresh fruit, fresh scones (homemade) and a tasty cup of coffee. Breakfast continued with a more traditional fare of fresh and locally sourced eggs, sausage and more. Bette and Paul are lovely hosts and we can't wait for our next visit.
